Notre Dame Football Coaches Mic'd Up
Can’t miss this heat! 🔊⬆️

We mic’d up the best coaching staff in the country during practice...it’s worth the 👂#GoIrish ☘️ pic.twitter.com/2CPaS7xeO7
I love this kind of stuff right now. We are all football starved so any kind of "behind the scenes" taste wets our appetites. In this case we get to see Notre Dame coaches interact with the players during practice. Nothing major was revealed but you notice they only focused on head coach Brian Kelly, RB coach Lance Taylor and defensive coordinator Clark Lea. They needed to keep it PG so offensive coordinator Chip Long was left off the mics for obvious non-PG reasons.
I know it won't happen but I would love for NBC to offer a mic'd up feed for home games. I would love to be able to hear the coaches interacting with the players on the sidelines. It doesn't need to be a live mic. I just want to see a replay of what was said or celebrated after big plays. Just a thought.

Not gonna lie though it's missing a few things. I didn't see any waterfalls, a lazy river, a putt putt course, hookers, blow, or cash lying around. You know the essentials for an elite college football program. Shame on Notre Dame for having some morals. It must be that Catholic guilt.
The Texas Longhorns Football Team got hypnotized
Had some hypnotic fun yesterday! 🤘#ThisIsTexas #HookEm pic.twitter.com/z1SJcnJFih

This is why I will never, ever get hypnotized. While it's hilarious to watch the Texas Longhorns football players driving in their sleep could you imagine the fucked up shit you would do if some demented person hypnotized you. It's like those people who fall for cults and wind up drinking the kool-aid. Don't do it! Come to think of it there was a lady going around neighborhoods and ringing doorbells at 4 am asking for water last week. True story. She didn't appear to be drunk or drugged and talked normal from the footage picked up by Ring doorbells. She had to have been hypnotized. She's lucky nobody shot here. Don't get hypnotized...ever.
Notre Dame and Under Armour reveal alternate 1988 uniforms for Boston College game
Today Notre Dame football with the help of Under Armour revealed their throwback "1988 uniforms" for Senior Day which will be worn November 12th versus Boston College.
To send off our seniors, we’re going back to ’88... and adding some modern flare. 💥

Celebrating the 150th anniversary of college football with an '88 throwback: https://t.co/7dL9FKnfQM#GoIrish ☘️ #CFB150 pic.twitter.com/aurS7nPno7
You can't go wrong with the traditional Notre Dame BLUE and GOLD for an "alternate" jersey. I like the mesh look of the jerseys with the white and gold numbers. The mesh look brings back memories of Chris Zorich and Michael Stonebreaker terrorizing backfields in the late 80's.
The black Under Armour shoes look awesome to go along with the GOLD pants. Thank you for getting the gold right on the pants Under Armour. It's key to have the shine of the Golden Dome match the pants in my opinion. The helmets are the same gold as the Dome so now we got a complete uniform that matches.
In conclusion I love these alternate '88 throwback jerseys. It's a traditional look with modern technology. The patch commemorating 150 years of college football looks sharp and not out of place.

If Notre Dame wants to make these the permanent uniforms and not just the Senior Day edition I don't think you would get much blow back from Notre Dame alumni and fans. Just a hint.

And to be honest I'm glad they didn't bring out green jerseys for Boston College. I still have recurring nightmares from 2002 with Ryan Grant and Pat Dillingham fumbling away an undefeated season in those bright green uniforms.
How about this alternate shirt for Senior Day vs BC?

Former Notre Dame safety Derrik Allen announces transfer to Georgia Tech
Just three days ago Notre Dame safety Derrik Allen announced he would be leaving Notre Dame immediately while seeking a transfer. The redshirt freshman today announced he would be going back to his home state with the Georgia Tech winning his transfer services.

Allen, the former 4-star recruit who was rated one of the best prospects in the 2018 Notre Dame class, will have to sit out a season despite red shirting last year.
Allen decided to part ways with Notre Dame one week into fall camp because he wasn't in the 2-deep at a stacked safety position. At the time Allen was seen as the 5th option behind starters Alohi Gilman and Jalen Elliott. Last week saw freshman sensation Kyle Hamilton make an immediate impact at the safety position in practice to vault Allen on the depth chart. To see a fellow Georgia peach product in Hamilton immediately jump you on the depth chart had to be jarring for Allen.
My honest assessment of Allen coming out of high school was that he would probably outgrow the safety position. Allen's frame (6'1 and 205 lbs) looked like it would fill out to a linebacker in the near future. During Allen's redshirt season he gained the "freshman 15" to put him around 220 which in today's game is too big for safety. I'd be surprised if he sticks at safety in college.
While Notre Dame loses a player who could have easily made the 2-deep next season with the impending graduations of Gilman and Elliott Georgia Tech picks up another big time recruit. First year GT head coach Geoff Collins has been looking into locking down the "404" area code in Atlanta which is where Allen is from (Marietta's Lassiter High School). Allen will get his chance to play vs the Blue and Gold in 2020 when Notre Dame travels to Atlanta to play Tech in the Mercedez Benz Stadium. Allen will also get a chance to play in Notre Dame Stadium when Tech travels to South Bend the following season.
ESPN's College Football "Chills" 2019 Video Montage will have you ready to run through a wall

Can...not...wait!
If this college football montage released by ESPN today doesn't have you giddy with excitement for the upcoming season then you are already dead inside.
I'm excited to see if anybody can unseat Dabo and Lord Trevor Lawrence from the championship pedestal.
The odds on favorite to meet Clemson again in the playoffs has to be Alabama with Tua back to win a Natty and a possible Heisman Trophy.
But you can't count out Jake Fromm and the UGA Bulldogs from knocking off Bama in the SEC Championship or playoffs if they can finally finish the drill.
Notre Dame will be looking to get back to the playoffs and seek their revenge vs Clemson if they can beat UGA in the regular season. With Ian Book back at QB you might wanna just go ahead and Book It.
And don't you dare forget about Oklahoma who will be looking to make their 3rd playoff appearance in a row with a transfer QB leading the charge in former Bama QB Jalen Hurts behind center.
Brian Kelly Recaps Day 4 of Fall Camp (8/7/19)
Couple of injury notes from today:
-Sophomore RB Jahmir Smith has a broken hand but will continue to play with a cast.
-Freshman OL Quinn Carroll has a knee injury and will be out for the season. Tough break for the early enrollee who impressed in the spring but was looking to redshirt this year anyways.
Thoughts on head coach Brian Kelly's recap of Day 4:
-It sounds like Shaun Crawford is competing both for a cornerback spot and safety spot on the team. Both positions have a lot of depth according to Kelly so it will be interesting to see what playing time Crawford earns this fall in camp.
-LB Asmar Bilal was at BUCK today but I'm not so sure he will even start this season despite being the only linebacker with extensive starting experience.
-Backup sophomore QB Phil Jurkovec made improvements today in his footwork and mechanics according to Kelly. His development is huge this fall since he will likely have to play given the chances of injury to starter Ian Book. Speaking of Book it looks like he's sporting a mustache...
-Love the way the receivers are competing out there for the ball. From the highlight of sophomore WR Braden Lenzy going deep and getting separation "over the top" he could be a huge down the field target for Book this season.
-Junior Michael Young makes a sensational catch over Troy Pride who was absolutely blanketing him in coverage brought flashbacks of Michael Floyd out there. Young looks really well put together and it's obvious he's been working hard with Balis in the strength department.
-Kelly praised senior Javon McKinley and sophomore WR Lawrence Keys who both could be due for breakout seasons as backups. And of course the highlight of Chase Claypool going over Troy Pride (poor Pride had perfect coverage again) to make another sensational catch has me excited about the endless possibilities at a very deep wide receiver position this season for Book to use at his disposal.
-Looks like freshmen Isaiah Foskey and Kyle Hamilton are making their presences felt running special teams drills.
Hello Isaiah Foskey and Kyle Hamilton. https://t.co/0CVEKLApgd
— Matt Freeman (@mattfreemanISD) August 8, 2019
-Tomorrow will be open to the media and the focus will be on the defense and tackling according to Kelly.

This DJ Stewart attempted catch by his head sums up the Baltimore Orioles last two seasons
Just a total head scratcher move here by Baltimore Orioles outfielder DJ Stewart. I mean he has a glove but instead of using it Stewart tries to catch the ball with his fucking head.
Statcast is full of shit if they say this Ronald Acuna Jr Bomb in Minnesota went only 426 feet
1st pitch Acuña Matata means 💣 tonight! https://t.co/SdUnVccAkD
— SportsCrack Apparel (@sportscrack) August 7, 2019
There is no way if it's 411 feet to Minnesota's centerfield fence that the ball Ronald Acuna Jr just hit only went another 15 feet over the fence. Give me a fucking break. That was at least 450 feet.
Who's doing the measuring? I demand to meet this Statcast person.
Reminder to get your official “Acuña Matata” shirt tonight and I’ll throw in a free sticker! #ChopOn
