Every July, the internet turns into quarterback ranking season.

Some lists are built off recruiting stars. Some are built off stats. Some are built off a guy throwing six touchdowns against Directional State in Week 2 three years ago.

Not this one.

This is the list of quarterbacks I’d take if the season started tomorrow. Some will agree. Some will lose their minds because their guy isn’t higher.

That’s college football.

Let’s get into it.

1. CJ Carr – Notre Dame

Look, I’m done pretending.

CJ Carr is the best quarterback in college football until somebody proves me wrong.

Every time you watch him, the game looks slow. He sees windows before they open, throws receivers open, and never looks rattled when defenses start bringing heat. That’s the difference between a good quarterback and the guy everyone in the stadium believes can win the game with two minutes left.

Notre Dame has spent years searching for the next quarterback who could bring a national championship back to South Bend.

I think they finally found him.

Marcus Freeman has handed Carr the keys, and now the expectations aren’t just making the Playoff—they’re winning the whole thing.

If you’re making the trip to Notre Dame Stadium this fall, ditch the generic green shirt. Show up wearing the Irish Carr Bomb tee and be ready for what’s shaping up to be a special season. If the Irish make the run everyone expects, the Leave No Doubt shirt might become the unofficial uniform of Notre Dame fans by November.

2. Dante Moore – Oregon

If you’re building a quarterback in a lab, Dante Moore is probably what comes out.

Big arm.

Fast release.

Cool under pressure.

Oregon always has athletes. The difference this year is Moore has the experience to maximize all of them.

The Ducks are built to score points in bunches, and Moore is the engine that makes everything go.

3. Julian Sayin – Ohio State

Ohio State quarterbacks don’t exactly inherit bad situations.

Sayin walks into another loaded Buckeye offense with elite receivers, NFL-caliber talent all over the field, and championship expectations.

Pressure?

That’s just another Saturday in Columbus.

He has all the tools to put together a Heisman-caliber season.

4. John Mateer – Oklahoma

John Mateer is the guy defensive coordinators absolutely hate preparing for.

He’ll beat you from the pocket.

Then he’ll scramble for 20 yards because everyone forgot he runs like a tailback.

Quarterbacks who make every play feel broken are impossible to defend.

Mateer fits that description perfectly.

5. Sam Leavitt – LSU

The minute Lane Kiffin brought Sam Leavitt to Baton Rouge, the rest of the SEC should’ve taken notice.

Kiffin has built his reputation around explosive offenses and quarterback-friendly systems. Leavitt has everything he needs to become the next big star.

Strong arm.

Excellent athlete.

Fearless mentality.

Don’t be surprised if LSU finishes among the nation’s leaders in scoring.

6. Darian Mensah – Miami

Every year there’s one quarterback who goes from “pretty good” to “where did this guy come from?”

Darian Mensah has that kind of season written all over him.

Miami has surrounded him with speed, and if he gets into a rhythm early, the Hurricanes become one of the ACC’s most dangerous teams.

7. Trinidad Chambliss – Ole Miss

Watching Trinidad Chambliss is like watching someone play NCAA Football with the difficulty turned down.

Broken plays somehow become touchdowns.

Pressure somehow turns into highlights.

Defenses think they’ve got him…

Until they don’t.

Ole Miss fans already know what they’ve got.

The rest of the country is about to find out.

8. Arch Manning – Texas

Take a deep breath.

Yes…

Arch Manning is eighth.

This isn’t a shot at his talent.

The arm is ridiculous.

The athleticism is real.

The last name speaks for itself.

But this list isn’t about hype.

It’s about who I’d trust to win the biggest game tomorrow.

Arch absolutely has the ability to finish this season as the best quarterback in America.

He’s just got a little more to prove than the seven guys ahead of him.

9. LaNorris Sellers – South Carolina

If college football gave out trophies for pure athleticism, Sellers might already own one.

He’s built like a linebacker.

Runs like a running back.

Throws missiles.

Good luck game-planning for that.

South Carolina isn’t sneaking up on anybody anymore.

10. Josh Hoover – Indiana

Josh Hoover might be the most overlooked quarterback in college football.

He’s experienced.

He’s productive.

And somehow people still aren’t talking about him enough.

That probably changes this fall.

By October, everyone will know exactly who he is.

Just Missed the Cut

Gunner Stockton (Georgia)
Jayden Maiava (USC)
Noah Fifita (Arizona)
Marcel Reed (Texas A&M)
Rocco Becht (Iowa State)

Any one of these quarterbacks could play themselves into the Top 10 before Halloween.

That’s how loaded college football is heading into 2026.
