We all know Notre Dame Tight End Michael Mayer is a special talent. The sophomore tight end set Notre Dame freshman records last season for catches and yards at the tight end position. Notre Dame offensive coordinator Tommy Rees, who played with some standouts in Tyler Eifert and coached Cole Kmet, couldn't help but praise Mayer aka "Baby Gronk" after practice yesterday.
“I don’t mean any disrespect to any of the guys that I have played with or any of the guys that have come, but Mike Mayer, he’s has the ability to be the best tight end to ever come here,” offensive coordinator Tommy Rees said. “I mean he is a special talent. You wanna talk about a guy that’s wired the right way. He comes to work every single day with the mentality that he’s going to get better and that he wants to go be dominant.”
Who are we to argue with Touchdown Reesus? Mayer is just going to continue to get better and it wouldn't shock us if he is putting up all-time numbers for Tight End U.
