Champion Virginia Tech Hokies, the Tigers
knew that national title hopes were slim, but
they were intent on proving they were as good
as any team in the nation. Auburn roared to a
fast start, then settled into a comfortable 9 - 0
halftime lead. The second half began fast
again as game MVP Jason Campbell connected
on a 53-yard pass, then a quick five yard
touchdown to increase the lead to 16 - 0.
Virginia Tech threatened to spoil perfection
with two fourth quarter touchdowns that cut
Auburn's lead to 3. However, Auburn was
intent to finish their perfect season and hold on
to the end. The Hokies could not recover an
onside kick and Auburn ran out the clock
making them the 2005 Nokia Sugar Bowl
Champions.
