This Tevon Coney Tackle Sums up the beating Notre Dame gave to USC Saturday Night

100% unaldulterated football porn right there.  Notre Dame linebacker Tevon Coney, filling in for the injured Greer Martini, laid a Trojan basically lifeless on the field in the 49-14 smack down.  I could seriously watch this Coney hit on loop, which I have, for hours.

What Notre Dame did to USC was something I haven't seen in over 20 years.  They broke the Trojans will to live.  The Fighting Irish ground game ran over and through the Trojans for 377 yards while averaging 8 yards per carry.  Junior tailback Josh Adams continued his Heisman Trophy push by rushing for 3 TDs while averaging over 10 yards per carry in just 3 quarters work.

Brandon Wimbush was back starting behind center after sitting for a leg injury vs North Carolina and looked by far his most confident while throwing some beautiful touchdown passes to Equanimeous St. Brown and Kevin Stepherson.  Take a look at this perfect back shoulder pass to Stepherson...

It was a game of total domination.  28-0 lead at halftime.  Playing the subs again in the second half.  Notre Dame is dare I say BACK and are completely blowing away quality opponents.  It's clear as day the addition of strength coach Matt Balis has made a HUGE difference in the physical nature that Notre Dame has become on both lines of the football.  They are stronger, faster and more physical and it's not even close.

New offensive coordinator Chip Long has changed the identities of what was a finesse team to a team that runs the ball down people's throats while also going over the top for the kill.

New defensive coordinator Mike Elko has done the same with the defense.  No longer do the Irish get pushed around up front.  The defensive front 7 actually penetrates and attacks while pressuring the QB to throw hurried passes/INTs.  Take a look at the ND ICON video...

With the win ND moves up to 9th in the AP Poll, a jump of 5 spots from last week.  NC State, ranked 14th, comes into South Bend this Saturday and should be the toughest opponent since UGA came to town.  The Wolfpack have the nation's best tight end in Jaylen Samuels who is a coverage nightmare for linebackers.  They also have the nation's best defensive end in Bradley Chubb.  ND had trouble with UGA's Lorenzo Carter and it's safe to say Carter is no Chubb.  Chubb is in a league by himself.

If Notre Dame can avoid the trap game the Irish will be sitting in the driver's seat for a playoff berth.  Win out and they are in.
